Chaconne for two marimbas

The “Chaconne for two marimbas” is composed in 2015 at a request of a Japanese marimba player Makoto Nakura, for the memorial concert of Hanshin-Awaji earthquake in 1995.

The music begins with a theme performed by solo marimba and followed by 27 variations. The first 12 mysterious variations gradually develop the first climax and rush into the next 12 variations in vivace. A cadenza is placed after the tempestuous middle part, followed by a short coda to conclude the music.
